FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What happens at a Devonshire Park Jazz Session?

Apart from the live music experience delivered by talented emerging and established artists and instrumental musicians.  Each session show is two sets, 45minutes minimum with a 30min' interval in-between.

In and around each set there will be a Q&A segment with the artist/band, where you too can ask questions.

Everyone in the audience is seated, as a Social Distance measure.  And, being mindful of Covid-19, with the 'new normal' still to be defined, the Floral Hall Winter Garden full audience capacity is not used.

Do you have a dress code?

We are quite relaxed about the dress code (within reason), but we do frown on gym apparel, team colours and construction site work clothes as going-out attire.
Most people choose to dress ‘smart casual’, but we say 'Dress for Jazz '.
Please remember to bring a face covering.

Why Do I need to wear a mask?

Effective 10 December 2021, in England face coverings are now required by law in most indoor public places, at large venues and events, and on public transport.

In indoor settings where a face covering is not legally required, you should still continue to wear a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces where you may come into contact with other people you do not normally meet.  And, all our team members will be wearing face coverings, too.

Will you be requiring the audience to show their valid NHS COVID Pass showing vaccination details or current Covid-19 test results?

Yes (effective 15 December 2021).  However, use of the NHS COVID Pass is voluntary for individual organisations in England.

The UK Government encourages the use of the NHS COVID Pass in music venues (whether live or recorded, for dancing), where people are likely to be in close proximity to a large number of people from other households for a sustained period of time.  And, as a condition of entry for indoor events with 500 or more unseated attendees.

Our condition of entry is following cross-checking everyone’s identity to their displayed COVID Pass status, to the name of person on the ticket and/or driving license as identification.
Importantly, the Winter Garden, in general the Devonshire Quarter buildings, has high ceilings and state-of-the art air-conditioning.
The Devonshire Quarter venues all have ‘COVID-Ready’ and ‘Good to Go’ accreditation, with extra measures in place to maintain your safety.

Are you collecting customer contact details to support NHS Test and Trace?

Yes.  Safety is our primary priority, so we have the NHS Track & Trace QR Codes displayed for use at the venue.
The data is stored securely for 28 days so that it can be shared with NHS Test and Trace if required.
We take data protection very seriously and will only share this data with validated officials for the purposes of Track & Trace, if they formally request it.

When would you activate Track & Trace?

We do not run the Track & Trace process.  The local council, in tandem with PHE, manage Track & Trace processes and decide what public health advice to give.
If we receive information that a member of our team or one of our customers has recently tested positive for COVID-19, we will inform the local council and PHE for guidance.

Please remember to bring a face covering.

How do I purchase and get my ticket(s)?

Tickets can be purchased here on our website.  We employ PayPal Checkout, an established and secure payment platform.   You can pay using your PayPal account.  You don't have a PayPal account, no problem.  You are still able to pay by credit or debit card and other payment methods at the PayPal Checkout.
We do not send any physical tickets, but you will receive a confirmation email with an order number.
On the night of the show, you just need to give your name and order number at the door and staff will show you in.

Do I have to purchase in advance?

We recommend acquiring your ticket(s) in advance of the performance day, as we anticipate (and hope) the show(s) to sell out long before the day.
Having said that, if we do have tickets left on the day, you can buy these on the door.  We are able to securely process cards and contactless payments at the venue.  Arrive early to give yourself the best chance in this instance.

The show I want to attend says it is ‘Sold Out’. What can I do?

We do occasionally get cancellations.  Just email us and we will add you to a waiting list, but this is no guarantee that any tickets will become available.

Do you offer concessions?

There is no standard concession available, at the moment.
Specific shows will have discounts for students and those under the age of 25years.  This will always be made clear on our website.

Are there any age restrictions for attending a show?

We do suggest that children under the age of 7years are unlikely to be able to sit quietly for the duration of a show, as we operate a quiet policy during the performances.  So, we advise against booking tickets for younger children.
Some of the mid-afternoon shows are more relaxed, provided that the children are well behaved.  There is usually no discount for children attending a show, unless a reduced price is indicated in the show ticket information.

What happens if the show is cancelled or I cannot attend due to COVID-19?

If we need to cancel the show due to government restrictions, artist or staff being required to self-isolate or any other unforeseen reason, we will refund you in full automatically.
If the show is going ahead but you are unable to attend due to COVID-19 symptoms and you have to self-isolate, we will cancel your ticket(s) and offer you a full refund or book your ticket(s) on another show.

What happens if a show is cancelled by the artist/promoter?

We will contact you by phone/email as soon as the cancellation is confirmed and you will get a full refund on your ticket(s).  If a replacement show is programmed, you will get the option to transfer your tickets to the new show date.

How can I cancel my booking?

We are able to refund tickets so long as you give us more than 48 hours’ notice, just contact us by email.
However, the booking fee will be deducted from the refund.  Note that the other aforementioned cancellations on our part we absolved these fees.

I left my jacket / purse / phone / camera at the venue, what should I do?

If you have left something behind in the venue, please call 01323 415437 and a member of staff from Devonshire Quarter will check lost property for you.

Can I bring a camera and take photos or make a video recording?

Photo & filming policy varies for different artists/bands and is usually not determined until the day of show.
You can bring a non-professional camera to the show, and you should enquire about the photo and filming policy for that particular at the door.

Is food available in the venue and can I include it in the ticket price?

Devonshire Quarter has two cafés and a restaurant, Stage Door pub offers food & drinks and there is a variety of eateries on Carlisle Road off Compton Street.
The cost of food and drinks cannot be included in the ticket price.

Would you refuse entry to a large group of men and/or women on a night out or in fancy dress/team colours?

There may be circumstances in which it is permissible for us to refuse entry to a large group of men and/or women, but this will be decided on a case-by-case basis.
If, for example, the group are highly intoxicated or appear to be under the influence of illicit drugs, it may
be justifiable to refuse all of them entry on the basis that they might pose a threat to the safety of staff, other eventgoers, and potentially themselves.
In the event of such an instance occurring we reserve the right to not offer a refund.

Are there any other instance(s) where you would refuse entry?

We want to make sure that Devonshire Quarter retains its reputation and that the audience enjoy the shows. We therefore reserve the right to refuse entry to any individual or group where there is a reasonable belief that they have little interest in the music which is being performed.
Again, in the event of such an instance occurring we reserve the right to not offer a refund.
