Live Jazz Music Eastbourne!

So ‘what is jazz’ music?
This old question is hard to answer because jazz is always changing.  The change is not for lack of settled definition, but progress as an ‘expression of life’.

And when a teenage jazz artist talks of their 2022 debut album as “a snapshot of an artist’s sound and development at one point in time”, to an 80-year-old jazz veteran’s new work described as “a composite music system that has never stagnated”.  Then, somewhere in the answer to ‘what is jazz’ should be where the music is at today.

Devonshire Park Jazz Sessions, in Eastbourne, is how you get to experience where jazz music is at today.

Whether performances by emerging or established acts, what is being showcased is not the formal jazz music variety found in concert halls.  But the swinging improvisational artform of jazz – new melody, harmony, and rhythms played over chord progressions of long-held standards.

This is fusion, post-bop, straight-ahead jazz music performed by local artists and instrumental musicians, including acclaimed UK jazz bands.

Expect the groove and freestyling of a backstreet jazz club, where the band explore the depths to which mere sound has no business to go!

Come join us, take a seat at one of the Sessions.  Listen to that cool jazz thing or a bit of blues in the groove.

We look forward to welcoming you all to this Local Live Music Experience For Everyone.
